Sutton Forest October 2009 – Blacktown #1 band piper Mike (McGyver) MacIver took the Open, Bill Green Memorial trophy for Medley playing at this years annual “Silver Tassie” competition.  The Silver Tassie itself was won for the second consecutive year by a Blacktown piper.

Wollongong October 2009 – The #1 band returned to the competition park for the first time since the Ozi Champs in November 2008. The band put on two good shows including the playing of their much-anticipated new medley

In the search for a full and rich drone sound,  the City of Blacktown G1 band announced it has moved to the Ganaway hide pipe bag.  

In a thrilling finale to the 2009 Mini Band Series Blacktown Pipe Band has swept to victory against traditional rivals, The Pipeband Club
